FUNDOPO is one of the most relevant smallholder organizations in the Dominican Republic, with more than 3,500 active producers and a projected growth to 5,000.
It operates under multiple international standards such as EU Organic, Bio Suisse, NOP, Naturland, ROC, Fairtrade and Fair for Life, working with various leading certification bodies in Latin America.
Before implementing abunda, FUNDOPO managed its internal control system (ICS) entirely manually: paper-based inspections, incomplete or illegible data, hand-drawn maps and a high administrative workload. This limited efficiency and the ability to comply with new requirements such as the EUDR.
In June 2024, FUNDOPO implemented abunda as an integrated solution to digitize its ICS. They currently use digital inspections, plot geolocation, evidence capture and centralized data management.
FUNDOPO has managed to geolocate 100% of its plots, generate GeoJSON files and collect field evidence to address deforestation risks. This allows them to move forward in a structured way towards EUDR compliance.
“With abunda, we have managed to professionalize our internal control system: we moved from manual processes to a structured, evidence-based digital system.”
“FUNDOPO is growing strongly, and without abunda we would not be able to do it with the same level of efficiency.”
FUNDOPO has transformed its internal control system into a professional, efficient and scalable digital operation. Today, they are not only prepared to comply with the EUDR, but also to quickly adapt to new standards and regulatory changes, consolidating a robust, reliable and future-oriented system.
